The legal stuff

Mira privacy policy.

Effective 30 June 2026 · Last updated 11 August 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Mira Voice ("Mira", "the App", "we", "us") collects, uses, shares, and protects your personal data, and the rights you have over it.

Who's responsible for your data

The data controller responsible for your personal data is Justin Bell, an individual (sole proprietor), based in the United States. Privacy contact: miravoiceapp@gmail.com. We haven't appointed a Data Protection Officer, as we're not legally required to. Raise any privacy question at the address above.

The data we collect

Account information. When you create the required free account, we receive a user identifier and — depending on your sign-in method — your email address and name (via Sign in with Apple, Google, or email/password). Sign in with Apple's private relay email is supported, so you can keep your real address hidden from us.

App data you create. Your vocal range, voice type, auto-generated lessons, practice lists, and app settings. This is stored on your device and synced to your account so it restores across your devices.

Subscription status. Whether you hold an active Mira Pro subscription and its expiry, received from Apple's App Store. We do not receive or store your full payment-card details — Apple processes all payments as merchant of record.

Microphone audio. Mira analyses your singing on your device, in real time, to display pitch. Live microphone audio is not recorded, stored, or transmitted to us.

Imported audio. Audio files you import are processed on your device only and are not uploaded to us.

Technical and diagnostic data. Basic, largely aggregated data needed to keep the service secure and working (e.g. crash and error information). We don't use this to identify you personally beyond what's necessary for security and reliability.

Why we use it, and our legal bases

Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), we need a lawful basis for each use of your personal data:

  • Creating and authenticating your account, syncing and restoring your app data, and operating the service — performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b)).
  • Operating Mira Pro subscriptions and confirming entitlements — performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b)).
  • Keeping the service secure, preventing abuse, and debugging — our legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) in running a sustainable, secure service.
  • Complying with legal, tax, and accounting obligations — legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)).

Where we rely on legitimate interests, you may object (see Your rights, below).

Who we share data with

We don't sell your personal data. We share it only with service providers that process it on our behalf, or as independent controllers, for the limited purposes below:

  • Supabase — account authentication and database hosting (your synced app data). Hosted in the European Union.
  • Apple — Sign in with Apple, App Store subscriptions (Apple is the merchant of record), and MusicKit playback.

We may also disclose data where required by law, to enforce our Terms, or to protect rights, safety, and security.

International data transfers

Some recipients (in particular Apple, for certain App Store and Sign in with Apple operations) may process data outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Where that happens, the transfer is protected by an approved safeguard — the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework and/or the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses — so your data continues to receive an essentially equivalent level of protection. Request a copy of the relevant safeguard via miravoiceapp@gmail.com.

How long we keep your data

  • Account and synced app data: for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account, this data is permanently removed promptly thereafter (subject to short-lived backups that are overwritten on a rolling basis).
  • Subscription and transaction records: retained as required by applicable tax and accounting law.
  • Diagnostic/security data: kept only as long as needed for security and reliability, then deleted or aggregated.

Your rights

Subject to the conditions in the GDPR, you have the right to: access your data; rectify inaccurate data; erase your data ("right to be forgotten"); restrict or object to processing; data portability; and withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent.

You can edit your profile and delete your account at any time in the app (Account → Delete account), which permanently removes your account and associated data. To exercise any other right, contact miravoiceapp@gmail.com. We'll respond within one month, as required by the GDPR.

We don't make decisions producing legal or similarly significant effects about you based solely on automated processing. Your auto-generated lessons are produced from your own vocal-range inputs to personalize practice and don't constitute automated decision-making within the meaning of Article 22 GDPR.

Right to complain. If you believe we haven't handled your data lawfully, you may lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority in your EU/EEA country of residence.

Security

We use technical and organizational measures appropriate to the risk — including encryption in transit, access controls, and server-side enforcement of account-data permissions — to protect your data against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and to respond promptly to any incident.

Children

Mira isn't directed to children. We don't knowingly process the personal data of children below the age of digital consent in their country (13–16 in the EU/EEA, depending on national law; 13 in the United States). If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us and we'll delete it.

Music and imported content

Apple Music playback uses your own Apple Music subscription through Apple's player; Mira doesn't download, store, or redistribute streamed content. You're responsible for holding the rights to any audio you import.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. We'll revise the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, provide a more prominent notice (for example, in the App). Your continued use of Mira after an update takes effect constitutes acknowledgement of the revised Policy, except where your fresh consent is required by law.
